Common terminology in the flow metering of natural gas

The flow rate of natural gas belongs to the most important category of gas flow meter. It can be divided into two categories: cross-industry cross-sector external transfer metering and process monitoring and measurement in production equipment. The former is characterized by total (cumulative flow) as the measurement object, and the flow is directly related to the economic benefits of both parties to the measurement, so the accuracy of the measurement is required to be high. Such meters are compulsory verification measuring instruments; For the purpose of process and material balance in the production plant, its object is instantaneous flow, its accuracy can be lower, but the reliability requirements are high.

Common terminology in flow metering

    Tube flow

The flow of fluid filled into a pipe is called a pipe flow.

    2. Turbulent flow

The flow through the measured cross section flows with a constant value over time.

    3. Multiphase flow

The flow of two or more different phases of fluid together is referred to as a multiphase flow. When only two phase fluids flow together, they are often referred to as two phase flows.

    Critical flow

The fluid flows through the throat of the throttling device (such as the nozzle, venturi), and the flow when the absolute pressure ratio between the downstream and the upstream side is less than or equal to the critical value.

    5. Gas isentropic index

The ratio of the relative change in gas medium pressure to the relative change in density during the isosceles process.

    6. Rectifier

A device that eliminates eddies and adjusts the flow to a regular velocity distribution, also known as a straightener.

    7. Air eliminator

A device for separating and removing gases from a flowing stream.

    8. Filter

Equipment installed upstream of the flowmeter, equipped with a metal mesh or other filter media to remove impurities from the fluid.

    9. Pressure loss

The unrecoverable pressure value caused by the fluid against resistance, such as flow through a flow meter and resistance member disposed in the conduit.

    10. flow

The amount of fluid flowing through a pipe or a section of a device sometime per unit time is called the flow. It can be expressed in two ways: volume flow Q and mass flow most qm.
